About Me

My photo
My love affair with fabrics and fashion started during childhood, I was encouraged by a clever mum who was always on her machine experimenting. Designing and the creative process keeps me just about sane. At the moment jewellery is my passion as; after all it is the little things in life that are truly precious. For me it its the process of making - working 30 hours a week doesn't leave much time to indulge this hobby. In the past I tended to give a lot of it away or remake once I have achieved the photo I want to make into another item. I'm now starting to sell though which is great, would be lovely to do this full time though. I am currently uploading vintage items I no longer have use for so please feel free to check out my little etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/HollyDaise

Our new neighbours!!!

Our cable box had worked lose on the outside of our house so we had a wee peek and found some squatters! What pretty shells they have, shame we had to evict them really. Hx

Okay, so the big floral necklace is for my friend. I guess it is all self explanatory, assemblage pendants and oversized fob bracelets.  Hope you like them?

Blooming Marvellous!

New pretty necklacel. Please excuse the naked model, she simply refused to put on a robe!  Very difficult to work with.

What a mess!

So here are some images of my workspace - where the magic happens, when or if it happens!

A real mess at the moment, very difficult to prioritise as I have so many ideas  and interests but due to working nearly full time I find I have very little time.

I've recently had some very good advice from  someone I admire the work of very much (you know who you are!) and actully started to make time to tidy up.  I bet my space is messier than yours????

Keep the Faith

The first of a range of jewellery I am currently designing inspired by the quirky vintage style and fantastic music of Paloma Faith.  I have called the collection 'Keep the Faith'.

Display Time ...............

My fantastic hubby knocked this up for me in our cellar.  It is made from a salvedged wooden stool top attached to a plant stand which we picked up from a car boot sale and small coated screwin hooks.

I found that wheeling this through a busy shopping centre to a crowded bus stop is a great conversation starter. Must of looked a complete sight with my granny trolley in the pouring rain, having to stop every couple of metres due to the wieght of it - what you have to do I guess when you don't possess your own transport.  You get to look silly in front of others - what a treat!

It great for hanging up all my bits and pieces though in my work room.

Reach for the Sky!

My lovely husband is in the process of making displays for my design work.  Really pleased how these turned out.  They can sit on shelves or be hooked onto the wall in my workspace - fabulous!

Furbaby - the creative genious behind Holly Daise

Sookie, the master, uses Jedi mind control you know! I am just her puppet.  I only do what she tells me to - would you mess with this little lady? With that look on her face???  Don't be fooled, she isn't all prettiness and whiskers. She is a relentless taskmaster who keeps me in the cellar slaving away on her projects until she wants to snooze on the lap.

Blast from the past ............ I made this!

Came across a news bulletin from a national fashion design competition I won in March 2000 while studying.  The theme was 'Sirens of the Silver Screen', the title 'Cancer Research Recycled Designer of the Year 2000'  with the winning outfit modelled by Danielle Brown the sister of Scary Spice.  The prize was to go to London for three months work experience with designers; Vivienne Westwood, Ben de Lisi and Betty Jackson.  Anyway there was absolutely no funding with this prize so other than my uncle and a patron (a very kind mother of a lady I designed a wedding dress for),  I had nothing to finance this trip with. My close chum, Maddie kindly let me stay in her flat for the full two weeks.  I ended up going to Vivienne Westwood in London, where I was based in the Public Relations Department.  I really wish I had had time to spend with Ben de Lisi, who I quite admire!  Oh well, hindsite is a great thing and all!
