About Me
- Holly Daise
- My love affair with fabrics and fashion started during childhood, I was encouraged by a clever mum who was always on her machine experimenting. Designing and the creative process keeps me just about sane. At the moment jewellery is my passion as; after all it is the little things in life that are truly precious. For me it its the process of making - working 30 hours a week doesn't leave much time to indulge this hobby. In the past I tended to give a lot of it away or remake once I have achieved the photo I want to make into another item. I'm now starting to sell though which is great, would be lovely to do this full time though. I am currently uploading vintage items I no longer have use for so please feel free to check out my little etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/HollyDaise

Alice in Wonderland
I know Alices Adventures in Wonderland has been everywhere lately due to the fantastic movie with my personal dreamteam - Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham-Carter and of course the massive talent Tim Burton, but it remains a personal favourite which I never seem to tire of. Here are a few pieces from a collection I produced a couple of years ago (2007) inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

MIXED TECHNIQUES
I really enjoy contrasting elements such as new and old or 'vintage', throughout my work I mix fabric with vintage jewellery, reclaimed from scrap or from charity shops. I like old techniques such as embroidery, tatting, covering beads and anything else I come across. Being brought up in a thrifty family in New Zealand I am no stranger to recycling as I have been doing it most of my life.

NEWBIE!
Little unsure about what works on a blog and what doesn't so please be patient with me. Struggling with the layout of these templates, can't seem to arrange the photos with the corresponding blog.
Oh well!
Am still trying to get to grips with my camera so please forgive the not great images - I'm really not a photographer or a stylist, I just love to design and manufacture.
