About Me

My photo
My love affair with fabrics and fashion started during childhood, I was encouraged by a clever mum who was always on her machine experimenting. Designing and the creative process keeps me just about sane. At the moment jewellery is my passion as; after all it is the little things in life that are truly precious. For me it its the process of making - working 30 hours a week doesn't leave much time to indulge this hobby. In the past I tended to give a lot of it away or remake once I have achieved the photo I want to make into another item. I'm now starting to sell though which is great, would be lovely to do this full time though. I am currently uploading vintage items I no longer have use for so please feel free to check out my little etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/HollyDaise

'My Legs are Weak' (Paloma Faith)

Really love the music and voice of Paloma Faith, amazingley talented artist.

Unfortunately from time to time I exibit rather strange behaviour (clearly I am bonkers!), so last year at the Paloma Faith gig in Harrogate I threw a necklace I had created for her birthday straight at her on stage nearly tripping her over in her fantastic platform shoes while she was in mid song.

Poor love thought I had dropped it and tried to hand it back (at least I hope that is why she tried to hand it back!).

Anyway, I created this giant rosery necklace while listening to 'My Legs are Weak' from the album 'Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful'.

The song makes me think of departed loved ones obviously who you miss terribly and the pain you go through (what a sap I am!), the crystal drops are like tears rolling off it.  Has a slightly Quaker feel I think with the embriodered lace collar.

Quite interested in Victorian morning jewellary and tradition including religious jewellary which is probably why it came out as a rosery design. It is a deep aubourgine colour with brass findings and cut glass facetted beads from a vintage necklace - everything
used in this necklace is upcycled.  It ties at the nape of neck with a deep purple silk ribbon.

As you can see - its rather long!
