About Me
- Holly Daise
- My love affair with fabrics and fashion started during childhood, I was encouraged by a clever mum who was always on her machine experimenting. Designing and the creative process keeps me just about sane. At the moment jewellery is my passion as; after all it is the little things in life that are truly precious. For me it its the process of making - working 30 hours a week doesn't leave much time to indulge this hobby. In the past I tended to give a lot of it away or remake once I have achieved the photo I want to make into another item. I'm now starting to sell though which is great, would be lovely to do this full time though. I am currently uploading vintage items I no longer have use for so please feel free to check out my little etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/HollyDaise

Poncho-tastic!
Recently, dear reader, my other half and I have become completely addicted to watching westerns, such as as 'Hell on Wheels' and 'Dead Wood' which has made me look at things in a completely different way. I love the whole homespun thing which contrasts sharply with the Victorian elegance of the time. For the poor, this really was make-do and mend!
I saw this really easy poncho pattern in a knitting book and thought, as I'm not much of a knitter that if I could commit I might be able to manage to make it. That's what I love about sewing, things can take shape quite quickly. Knitting requires a bit more dedication and perseverance.

Up up and away (hopefully)!
So I have finally managed to sort out a facebook page for my personalised sewing tution which I am hoping to build a business from. It is in the early stages yet but I would appreciate it if you would take the time dear reader to check it out and like it and pass it on to anyone you may know who is considering sewing lessons.
You can check out the results of my teaching in earlier posts which show projects made by my pupil Kate, who is a really quick study. Very proud of her, considering she has never been on a sewing machine before now she is proving to be very talented.
I think the best way to really learn is the traditional way, my mother passed her skills down to me which inspired me to go onto further study. This is what I hope to do for others, provide a personalised course of sewing lessons for individuals so you reap the benefit of my time and your funds. It is such a shame when people go to college classes, pay all that money and only have 10 minutes tutor time in each two or three hour session. Even worse if you come away without a finished project after 10 weeks and no transferable skills. I have called this enterprise Reap What You Sew as I feel that personlised, individual lessons are the only way to reap any real benefit.
Have also popped into the lovely knitting shop Baa Ram Ewe in Headingley and left my flyer so hopefully we shall see if we get any interest!
Keep your fingers crossed for me dear reader.

Finger Bling!
Not sure about the title this time - my hubby agrees, it just doesn't sound right. But as its late at night and I've used up all my spare brain cells teaching my wonderful and talented pupil today I think I'll leave it as is for now.

Both these rings made from the selfedge at the bottom of a jewellary box - repurposed pieces, mostly vintage. Attached to adustable ring settings.

'She Whom Must Be Obeyed'! Fur Baby.
Typical, drunk again. What a lush!
So cute though, her tongue keeps rolling out of her mouth when she falls asleep as she has barely any teeth left due to being a pensioner.
Green Goddess!

Not So Sure!
Well, I made these two necklaces from a brooch which I found broken in two in my box of selfedge, I filed the sharp edges off, replaced the missing rhinestones and embriodered around the edges.
I like the purple edged one but an unsure about the direction of the burgundy one - may change the way it hangs.
